we are making every effort we can to reduce the carbon footprint of the surgery. Our policies include the almost total recycling of all paper, cardboard and plastics from the practice - these are recycled by MAGPIE COOPERATIVE LTD. Clinical waste cannot be recycled. All confidential material is shredded fully before being sent for recycling. Wherever possible information is sent electronically to avoid the costs of ink, paper and postage. Our meter readings are tabulated below allowing us to calculate power usage. (Quarterly/six monthly usage in brackets)
Vehicular transport - we are seeking to reduce use of fossil fuels by planned policy of purchasing more fuel efficient vehicles as they become due for replacement Dr Higson's vehicle is a Volvo C30 (DRIVe Stop/start) which generates 99g/km of CO2 and achieves 49-50mpg around town
