ADULT BASIC LIFE SUPPORT

WITH 5 RESCUE BREATHS AND IF STILL UNRESPONSIVE,
CONTINUE
WITH 15 CHEST COMPRESSIONS (CAREFUL !)
THEN 2 RESCUE BREATHS

ANAPHYLAXIS
Some of the clinical symptoms of
anaphylaxis are:
- Itchy red-rimmed eyes
- Diffuse erythema (reddened skin) and
urticaria (feeling of being itchy)
- Sneezing and coughing
- Chest tightness
- May be grey or may be highly coloured
- Breathlessness
- Localised tissue swelling - eyelids;
lips; tongue; hands; genitalia and larynx within minues - lease to create
respiratory distress and insufficiency
- Decreased blood pressure as the
circulatory collapse develops
- Rapid weak pulse
- Pupils dilate
- Unconsciousness
- Cardiorespiratory failure
Note in about 1 in 5 cases, there will be
NO skin changes
Dosage of intramuscular adrenaline (1:1000
strength) for Anaphylactic Reaction

Note: The dose can be repeated if there is NO IMPROVEMENT after 5 minutes.
